I've never had the computer try to install a new driver in the many times I've disconnected the scanner and reconnected it, (except on the original install). You can mess with hold times and delay times in programming. The only thing I've found that helps is increasing the squelch above 1.

If you have a smartphone or other USB device charger you can use it if you don’t want to use the charger that came with the radio. In the car you can use any USB port to power/charge the radio. I spent about 5 hours with my buddy Dodge Rice (DodgeTheMachinist) learning how to place the inset SDS100, or whatever inlaid text on the sides. I used the website www.tinkercad.com to edit the original .stl file. It was a fun learning process.
